Stephané E. Conradie’s new exhibition, ‘Domestic Lives, Nomadic Belongings’, explores?her social and economic
‘situatedness’, in a South African context, by looking at her environment’s material culture and how this relates to identity formation.
Conradie employs found objects, all reminiscent of the trinkets that decorate working and middle-class homes across South Africa, to form and inform the sculptures, prints, and paintings she has produced for this exhibition. These works reflect on belonging in a society that is undergoing rapid and often unstable change in the domestic context of the home.
Conradie is a PhD candidate in Visual Arts and part-time lecturer in Art Education and printmaking at the University of Stellenbosch.
The exhibition will open at 6pm with a performance by the artist starting at 6.15pm.
Venue: Gallery MOMO Cape Town, 16 Buiten Street
Time: 9am to 6pm
