The Purpur Night of Transgressive Arts celebrates its 5th anniversary with an unusually diverse programme featuring highlights of the last four festivals 6 new works by young South Africa composers played by the Purpur Ensemble.
Brilliant Swedish horn player,?S?ren Hermansson,plays works by Marcus Fjellstr?m, Leilei Tian, Jenny Hettne, and our own Pierre-Henri Wicomb.
The?stage has been given to 6 young South African composers – Monthati Masebe, Samora Ntsebeza, Adeyemi Oladiran, Motshwane Pege, Natali Frenz and Khanyisile Peterson – to write new works for an ensemble of clarinet, trumpet, piano and percussion.
The event will also feature performances by LaMonte Young, Gy?rgy Ligeti’s Trois Bagatelles, and musical compositions by two world famous visual artists, Marcel Duchamp (realised with music boxes) and Tom Philips (realised for instruments) and more.
